dating-app-kasaragod-case

KASARAGOD: The investigation into the minor boy’s sexual assault case in Chandera Kasaragod is now directed at a dating app. This is the first case of sexual exploitation of a minor child using a dating app in the state. No personal details or documents are required to access the app. The app is set up so that anyone with a mobile phone can download it from Google and access it. All the user needs is to certify that they are 18 years of age or older.

The feeble security setup allowing easy access for minors to such apps is now available only in a few countries, including India. Kasaragod District Police Chief Vijay Bharat Reddy warned about legal action against the app.

The case is being handled by including provisions for preventing IT crimes. The police chief revealed that the accused were arrested within two days of the investigation.

The statement of the victim is the main evidence in the Chandera gang rape case. Scientific evidence has also been collected. The police found that the accused had no previous connection with other similar crimes, and no one acted as an intermediary. In addition to Kasaragod district, cases have been registered in Kannur, Kozhikode and Ernakulam districts.

The Railways denied reports that a Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer was involved in the POCSO case registered at Chandera Police Station. The person involved in the case is not currently an RPF officer, the Palakkad Railway Division said in a press release.
