PALAKKAD: New allegation in the incident of locking a tribal man in a room without giving him food for six days and assaulting him. Vellayyan, the middle-aged tribal who was beaten up, says that the DySP is trying to cover up the case. The allegation is against the Chittoor DySP.

Vellayyan told the media that the DySP was trying to settle the case after summoning him on the pretext of taking a statement. The DySP asked Vellayyan to settle things via negotiation with the second accused, Ranganayaka, who was granted bail.

"There are constant threats from Prabhu, the main accused in the case. Ranganayaka, who has been granted bail, is planning to kill me. Even after a month of the incident, the police have not been able to arrest the main accused. I cannot even go out. Every time the police call me, I feel like I am the accused," Vellayyan said.

A people's committee was formed in Muthalamada against the police. The people's committee alleged that the main accused is not being arrested due to political reasons and that the police are colluding.
