NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet approved 78 days Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) for Railway employees.
In recognition of the outstanding performance of Railway employees, the Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the payment of 78 days Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) to an amount of Rs. 1865.68 crore to 10,91,146 Railway employees.
Every year, PLB is given to eligible Railway employees before the Durga Puja/Dussehra holidays. This year, about 10.91 lakh non-gazetted Railway employees are being given PLB amount equivalent to 78 days' wages. PLB is an incentive to motivate Railway employees to work towards improving the performance of the Railways.
The maximum PLB amount for each eligible railway employee is Rs. 17,951/-, which is equivalent to 78 days' wages. The above amount is given to various categories of railway employees like Track Maintainers, Loco Pilots, Train Managers (Guards), Station Masters, Supervisors, Technicians, Technician Helpers, Pointsmen, Ministerial Staff and other Group 'C' employees.
The performance of the Railways in the year 2024-25 was noteworthy. The Railways were able to transport a record number of 1614.90 million tonnes of cargo and carry about 7.3 billion passengers.
