KOCHI: Actor Amit Chakalakkal reportedly denied the customs claim that six of his vehicles were seized for allegedly being smuggled from Bhutan.

Amit Chakalakkal:

“A 1999 model Land Cruiser, which I was using for the past five years, was taken by Customs. That was the only vehicle that the officials took into custody. The officials are now studying the documents dating back almost 15 years. They want to inspect whether the vehicle had any connection with Bhutan. Instead of that, they should be inspecting the ownership transfer of the last few years and the sales record. I have submitted all necessary details to the officials.

Even in 2024, I had received a summons from Customs. I produced all papers, and then the officials asked me not to do any repair work on the vehicles. For the same reason, I kept the vehicles untouched. However, just four months back, I resumed the repair work on them. Now the officials are back again, expressing the same doubts about the vehicles.

There were a few reports that I was not cooperating with the investigation yesterday. In fact, it was not true. The customs official had to engage in long talks with my lawyer over the search warrant on Tuesday. I was not in any way invovled in those talks."
