MUMBAI: The Indian team for the ODI against Australia has been announced. Shubman Gill has been named as the new captain in place of Rohit Sharma in the ODIs. Shreyas Iyer will continue as the vice-captain. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been given rest for the ODI series. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will return to the ODI team. It is indicated that their place in the team will be considered only on the basis of performance from now on. Youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal has also returned to the team. Meanwhile, Malayali star Sanju Samson has found a place in India's T20 team.


Suryakumar Yadav will lead India in the T20 series. Shubman Gill will continue as the vice-captain. Nitish Kumar Reddy has been included in the T20 team due to the injuries sustained by Hardik Pandya. With the new decision, Rohit Sharma will not be the captain of the team. Although questions are being raised about Rohit's future in the 2027 ODI World Cup, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar has not given any clear explanations in this regard. The ODIs will be played in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne from October 19 to 25. This will be followed by a five-match T20 series.
