CHENNAI: Actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan MP visited Karur, the town still grieving over the stampede tragedy. The actor-turned-politician requested that no one take sides in the tragedy and stand with the people. It is deemed a veiled attack on TVK chief Vijay.

However, when asked what advice he has for Vijay, Kamal Haasan responded that the court will give it to him. Kamal Haasan also visited those undergoing treatment at Karur Hospital. Minister V. Senthil Balaji accompanied the veteran actor.

Kamal Haasan:

''Our mothers and sisters, and brothers were involved in the tragedy. The investigation is progressing. The matter is under the consideration of the court, and it is not right to comment on it now. Let us not take sides in this matter. If we want to take sides, let us take the side of the people.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has shown exemplary leadership. We should thank him for that."

Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam is now part of the DMK front. He visited the house of one-and-a-half-year-old Vishnu, who died in the tragedy, and consoled the parents. He presented a cheque of Rs 1 lakh given by the Kamal Cultural Centre to the families of the victims.
