THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is reported that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's son, Vivek Kiran, received a summons from the Enforcement Directorate back in 2023. ED had asked Vivek to be present at the Kochi office at 10:30 am on February 14, 2023. However, Vivek Kiran did not appear.

It is reported that the summons was part of the investigation related to irregularities in the Life Mission project. The summons was issued under sub-sections two and three of Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. These sections empower the investigating officer to summon to produce documents and evidence. The notice was sent by PK Anand, the Assistant Director in Kochi.

However, it is learnt that ED did not take any further action despite Vivek not appearing at the office. It is on the same night that ED arrested the Chief Minister's former Principal Secretary, M Sivashankar, after three days of questioning in the same office. This created a huge stir.

The ED had also sought information from the UAE authorities about Vivek, who works in Abu Dhabi. The notice was sent to the address of Cliff House, the official residence of the Chief Minister. The ED had also asked Vivek to submit details of Aadhaar, PAN card, and bank accounts.
