THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state is likely to see heavy rainfall for the next five days. An orange alert was issued in Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod districts today. The forecast predicts the possibility of very heavy rainfall. The Central Meteorological Department defines very heavy rainfall as a downpour ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours.

A yellow alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts today. Isolated heavy rain is likely.

In the next three hours, light/moderate rain with thundershowers and strong winds up to 40 kmph are likely at isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Thrissur district.

A yellow alert was issued for Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad districts tomorrow, and for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki and Wayanad districts the day after tomorrow, and for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki districts on Tuesday. A yellow alert has been issued for Ernakulam and Idukki districts on Wednesday.

The Indian Meteorological Department advised against fishing off the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep today and tomorrow.
