THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has announced that there is a possibility of rain with thundershowers in Kerala from today to the 15th. There is a possibility of strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kmph. A cyclonic circulation is present over the southeast Arabian Sea and the adjoining north Kerala coast.
It is in this context that it has been announced that light/moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Kerala and Mahe from October 11 to 15. IMD has issued an orange alert in Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod districts today. The possibility of very heavy rain at isolated places has been predicted. The Central Meteorological Department defines Very Heavy Rainfall as rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours.
