ALAPPUZHA: Locals protested with the body of a female farm worker, alleging that her death was due to the negligence of KSEB employees. The body of the deceased Sarala (64) was brought in front of the Pallippad KSEB office.
Sarala and her companion, Srilatha, were electrocuted while climbing ashore after working in a paddy field the other day. Srilatha is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Srilatha grabbed the stay wire of a nearby electricity post to prevent her from slipping and falling. Sarala also got electrocuted while trying to save her. The accident occurred when the stay wire hit the fuse carrier. The Janakiya Samiti alleged that the officials did not take the incident seriously despite several complaints filed at the Pallippad KSEB office. The Janakiya Samiti office-bearers demanded that a case of wilful murder be registered against the officials and an investigation be conducted.
The office bearers of the People's Committee demanded that the electricity wires in the paddy fields in Pallippad and nearby areas are in a dangerous condition in many places, and that the authorities be prepared to fix this as soon as possible to ensure the safety of the people, and that urgent financial assistance be provided to Sarala's family.
