THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar has taken tough action against the use of air horns in vehicles. The minister has ordered a special drive to seize air horns in vehicles. The special drive which started yesterday (October 13) will be till October 19. The seized air horns should be brought before the media and displayed. The order says the air horns should be destroyed using a road roller.
The minister had taken action in the incident of a speeded private bus honking nonstop during the inauguration of the Kothamangalam KSRTC bus terminal the other day. A private bus with a lot of people was honking during the inauguration of the terminal. The minister directed the RTO to cancel the permit of the bus. The minister had clarified that violations of the law will not be allowed.
‘The honorable MLA is delivering a speech. He thought that a fire engine was coming. I was also scared. It was going at a rocket speed with a lot of people. What was the need to honk so much inside the bus stand,' the minister had also criticized during the programme.
The minister had earlier stopped the bus, scolded the employees and taken action against the driver for piling bottles on the dashboard of a KSRTC bus. Sajeev K S, the driver of the Ponkunnam unit, was transferred to the Thrissur unit as part of the action.
