KOLLAM: Police have arrested a man for sexually abusing and impregnating a minor girl. The arrested person, a native of Kannur, was a friend of the girl's mother. According to the police, the accused, a hotel employee, had been living with the girl's mother for two years. He fled the house after sexually abusing the child. He was arrested by the police from a hotel in Vagamon. According to the police, the accused subjected the girl to sexual abuse for around 2 years.

The victim, a Class 9 student, recently gave birth to a baby girl at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. The sexual abuse came to light after being informed by the hospital authorities. The child testified that the accused often used to sexually abuse her whenever her mother was not at home. He started living with her mother after her father abandoned the family. The mother, who worked as a home nurse, was not present at home most of the time. The accused took advantage of this situation and sexually abused the girl, the police said.
