Five UDF workers were arrested the other day in the case of hurling explosives and attacking the police during a clash between protestors and the police at Perambra in Kozhikode. The Perambra police had taken seven UDF workers into custody the other day on LDF’s allegation that UDF workers hurled explosives at the police during the clash. The UDF leaders accused the police of making one-sided arrests and fabricating cases in Perambra, allegedly acting on behalf of the CPM.
Mobile footage also emerged showing that KPCC working president Shafi Parambil MP was beaten during a police lathi charge in the hartal held in connection with the Perambra CKG College elections. The video clearly shows the police roughing up Shafi with a lathi. The footage shows the police standing behind the protesters and waving a lathi at Shafi.
