THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Gold, cash and documents were seized during a search conducted at the house of Unnikrishnan Potty, an accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case. The investigation officers reached Potty's residence in Pulimath, Kilimanoor and began the search yesterday afternoon. The search ended this morning.

The inspection was conducted in the presence of the village officer and the panchayat ward member. Potty’s family told the officers that it was gold they owned. The investigation team will check the veracity of the claims made.

Documents of Unnikrishnan Potty's property transactions have also been seized. Since 2020, Potty has lent money at extremely high interest rates to people. Documents related to this were also found. There are reports that Potty purchased land in the names of relatives.

Unnikrishnan Potty's interrogation has entered its fourth day. The accused had revealed the details of about 15 people involved in the fraud gang and conspiracy the other day. The conspiracy and planning for the gold robbery took place in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. The Devaswom officials acted on the instructions given by the fraudsters from there. Unnikrishnan Potty has also stated that he planned to loot more gold.

The Crime Branch is preparing to submit an interim report to the High Court on Tuesday. Potty's arrest will also be made soon in the case of stealing gold from the sanctum sanctorum of the Sabarimala temple. Murari Babu, the administrative officer who forged documents claiming to be copper, may also be arrested soon.
