BENGALURU: Police have registered a case against a Malayali student in connection with the incident where a his junior was found hanging in a rented house in Bengaluru. The deceased has been identified as Kodagu native Sana Parveen (19), a second-year BBA student at a college in Kadusonnapanahalli. Her senior, Rifas, a native of Chavakkad in Thrissur district, has been booked for abetment to suicide.

Sana was living in a rented house along with three other students. One of her roommates had gone home the other day. On Friday, Sana and two others went to college, but she returned home shortly afterwards, complaining of a headache. At around 10 am, Rifas called the house owner and said that Sana was going to commit suicide. The house owner and others rushed to the house and found Sana hanging in her room. Although they immediately rushed her to the hospital, her life could not be saved.

Sana had texted Rifas before committing suicide. Sana's family allege that Rifas had taken her gold chain and ring by exploiting the friendship. They also alleged that Rifas used to harass her, demanding money. Police registered the case against Rifas based on the complaint lodged by Sana's father Abdul Naseer.
