KOCHI: The customs had the other day released the car seized from actor Dulquer Salmaan as part of Operation Numkhor. The Land Rover that was in Dulquer Salmaan's vehicle collection was released. The vehicle was released following an application filed by Dulquer as per the high court's instructions.
The vehicle was released to the actor in safe custody. This Land Rover Defender should not be seen on roads until the case is over. The vehicle was released based on a bond and 20 percent bank guarantee. Since the investigation is ongoing, the vehicle should not be taken outside Kerala and if demanded, should produce it.
Three of Dulquer's vehicles were seized in two phases of the raid. The Land Rover was seized in the first raid. Dulquer had approached the court requesting to release this car. The court then directed him to approach the customs. The court also directed the customs to consider Dulquer's plea. There is a provision in the Customs Act to release vehicles with conditions after considering the application. Accordingly, the additional commissioner of customs decided to release the vehicle after considering Dulquer's plea.
The customs now have only Dulquer’s Nissan Patrol. Although another car was taken into custody, it was allowed to remain there as it did not have a fitness certificate.
