KOLLAM: Opposition leader VD Satheesan performed Thulabharam with unniyappam at the Panmana Sree Subrahmanya Swamy Temple in Kollam on Monday, the day of Skanda Shashti. 80 kg of unniappam was used. When the UDF became the opposition in the last assembly elections, the workers had vowed to perform Thulabharam at the Panmana temple if Satheesan became the opposition leader. Although the prayer was fulfilled, Satheesan did not get time to perform the Thulabharam. Thulabharam was performed today after six months of advance planning, fixing it on the most special day of Skanda Shashti in Subrahmanya Swamy temples.
The Thulabharam was a vow of the Titanium Complex Employees Congress (INTUC) and the Panmana Block Congress Committee of Chavara KMML. VD Satheesan has been the president of the Titanium Complex Employees Congress for a long time.
Satheesan reached the temple at around 1 pm today. Since it was Skanda Shashti, the temple was open at that time. Satheesan sat on the thulabharam platform, praying to Subramanya Swamy with his hands on his chest. The 'Thirumenis' who prepare unniyappam at the Kottarakkara Mahaganapathy temple were brought to the Panmana temple to make unniyappam for VD Satheesan.
Vow to become the Chief Minister
Congress leaders in Panmana said that they have prayed to Subramanian Swamy that VD Satheesan will become the next Chief Minister and added that they will hold another Tulabharam if that comes true.
