CHENNAI: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay reportedly apologized by touching the feet of the kin of those who died in the Karur tragedy. Vijay apologized when he met the relatives of the victims after bringing them to a hotel in Mamallapuram. Vijay also explained why he did not visit the families of the victims at their homes in Karur.
Vijay met them exactly a month after 41 people died in the tragedy on September 27. Vijay informed them that he would bore the medical and educational expenses of the victims. Vijay met the kin of the victims at a private hotel in Pooncheri near Mamallapuram.
Party workers had made the necessary arrangements at this hotel. They were brought in a bus from Karur. It is reported that more than 200 people had arrived. Pictures of Vijay feeding them have emerged. Vijay spent time with them from 9 am to 6:30 pm.
Meantime, there is a lot of dissatisfaction within the party against Vijay for bringing the disaster victims to the hotel. It is alleged that calling the disaster victims without seeing them in person and offering them help is not the act of a true leader. There is also concern among the workers that calling the victims will be used as a political weapon by other parties.
