THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Reports say CPM is planning to accept the condition proposed by CPI over the PM Shri Project. The state government is likely to send a letter to the Centre seeking relaxation in the criteria related to it. It is heard that the CPM intervened and decided to write a letter to the Center. The CPM softened its stand after speculations that CPI ministers would abstain from the cabinet meeting if there was no consensus on the project. The Center will decide whether to relax the scheme.

It is not possible to withdraw from the agreement completely. Can only demand relaxation in the norms. A front meeting will be called soon to discuss the issue. The issue has also been raised in the central leadership. M A Baby called D Raja and spoke to him. It is reported that he called him on the phone after discussions with leaders in Kerala. It is indicated that the CPI will give in only if a political decision is announced by sending a letter. Baby has informed D Raja about this. It is reported that the content of the letter to be given to the center has also been informed.

With the announcement of local body elections on November 5, if the issue is not resolved, the Left Front's election preparations will also be affected. The CPM decided to surrender with this in mind. The chief minister is deeply angry with the CPI's stance, which has not compromised despite his direct intervention in resolving the issue. With two major elections coming up, the CPM leadership is also unhappy with the approach taken by the CPI that is putting the front in a crisis.
