Youth drowns in pond in Alappuzha

MUHAMMA: A man drowned to death while taking a bath with his friends in a pond near Preethikulangara temple. The deceased has been identified as Sreejith (Sreekuttan, 22) of Thekkeveliyil in Sarvodayapuram in Mararikulam. The accident happened at 12 noon on Sunday.

Sreejith came here to help with the works of his friend's house. While swimming to the other side with his friends, he drowned in the middle of the pool. Locals tried to save him but could not.

Funeral will be held at 1 pm today at the residence. Father: Bhaskaran (Venu), is a fish vendor in Sarvodayapuram Market. Mother: Ramani. Siblings: Shilpa and Sivaprasad (Unni).
