Bus catches fire in Kannur, narrow escape for passengers

KANNUR: A bus in the Kannur - Kolathuvayal route was completely gutted in fire here. The passengers miraculously escaped. The incident took place at Podikundu in Kannur city at 9.30 am today.

There was a spark rising from the side of the driver's seat of 'Mayas' bus moving with a large number of passengers. Then the smoke began to rise. With the smoke rising, the driver abruptly pulled the bus into the roadside and let the passengers out. All the passengers got out safely and within seconds the fire spread inside the bus. The fire was put out by the fire brigade. The cause of the accident is believed to be a short circuit.
