Lakhs given as dowry, harassment for not gifting car; influencer found dead at in-laws’ house
LUCKNOW: Social media influencer Mansi was found dead at her in-laws' house in Lucknow. Th woman's family later came forward, alleging that her husband Sagar Rajput and his relatives were constantly harassing her over dowry. The family also alleged that they were trying to make it look like suicide after killing Mansi.
Mansi of Kanpur married Rajput in 2024. The two were active on social media. Rajput has about eight lakh followers on Instagram. Mansi's family had given him Rs 7 lakh and household items as gifts at the time of marriage. However, Rajput's family was not satisfied with this. Her family alleged that they had demanded more dowry and a car.
Ever since the marriage, they had been teasing Mansi over dowry. When they did not get the dowry they expected, Rajput's family started harassing her mentally and physically. Mansi had informed her family about this. Her family have come to Lucknow several times for mediation talks. Rajput's relatives called her family on Saturday to inform her suicide. Mansi's relatives told police that she would never commit suicide.
