Minorities advancing while majority communities stay passive, says Vellappally Natesan

PUTHUKKAD: SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan stated that while minority communities are systematically capitalising on opportunities for their advancement, majority communities have been reduced to mere spectators. Speaking at a reception following the inauguration of the SNDP Yogam Puthukkad Union Gurumandiram, Vellappally criticised the political strategies of minority groups. He claimed that after pressuring the LDF government to secure benefits based on the Koshy Commission report, these groups voted en masse against the ruling front in the elections, ultimately costing the LDF its power. Natesan further remarked that minority communities have a historical precedent of leveraging collective influence, recalling their pivotal role in unseating the first democratically elected Communist ministry in the state. He added that their core strength lies in a combination of muscle power, financial influence, and organised vote-bank politics. The event was presided over by Union President C.J. Janardhanan. Notable speakers at the gathering included SN Trust Board member Preethi Natesan, Yogam Counsellor P.K. Prasannan, and Central Vanitha Sangham Secretary Adv. Sangeetha Viswanathan, and Pensioners' Council State Secretary Adv. M.N. Sasidharan. Civil Service rank holder Ganga Gopi and KAS first-rank holder V.S. Savitha were also honoured and spoke at the event. Union Secretary T.K. Raveendran welcomed the gathering, and Yogam Director K.R. Raghu Master delivered the vote of thanks.
