Beefing with bigwigs: Chaos in Bangladesh as feisty 'Netanyahu' and chill 'Trump' buffaloes spark internet fury
DHAKA: Move over global politics, there is a brand-new power struggle taking over Bangladesh, and it’s unfolding right in the livestock markets ahead of Eid-al-Adha. Two massive buffaloes named after world leaders Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu have become overnight internet sensations, drawing massive crowds of selfie-hunting fans.
Leading the charge is 'Donald Trump,' a jaw-dropping 700-kilogram albino water buffalo turning heads in the Paikpara area of Narayanganj. Local residents couldn't help but notice the striking resemblance, quickly naming the beast after the US President thanks to its distinct white coat and a tuft of copper-colored hair on its head. Farm owner Ziauddin Mridha revealed he snapped up the rare albino giant ten months ago from a cattle market in Rajshahi. Now, with the festive season peaking, this gentle giant—who fuels his massive frame on a premium diet of corn, soybeans, and bran—is the hottest commodity in the market. Mridha insists that despite his intimidating size, 'Trump' is a total sweetheart who loves peace and quiet, unless provoked.
But the political drama doesn't stop there. Sharing the viral spotlight is 'Benjamin Netanyahu,' an even heavier heavyweight tipping the scales at over 750 kilograms. According to farm hands, this feisty bovine living up to his namesake is a handful. Unlike the laid-back Trump, 'Netanyahu' is bursting with chaotic energy, known for his mischievous streaks, thunderous snorts, and a fiery temperament that often sees him charging at his handlers when irritated.
While thousands are flocking from far and wide just to get a glimpse and a prized selfie with the heavyweight duo, the quirky naming choice hasn't amused everyone. The internet is fiercely divided, with a wave of critics hitting social media to blast the farm owners for comparing livestock to global political figures. Political correctness aside, these two heavy-hitters have undeniably stolen the show this festive season.
