Account closed in Nemom re-opened; BJP blooms in two constituencies
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar has won in Nemom constituency. The state party president won by a majority of 3,800 votes. Nemom was the constituency where O Rajagopal opened the BJP’s account in the assembly in 2016. In 2021, LDF candidate V Sivankutty defeated the BJP to win the seat.
The BJP also pulled off a surprise victory in Chathannoor this time. BJP’s B B Gopakumar defeated LDF candidate R Rajendran by a margin of 4,002 votes Gopakumar got a total of 46,567 votes. UDF candidate Suraj Ravi came third in the constituency.
Responding to the results, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said both the UDF and LDF had claimed that the BJP would not win even a single seat in Kerala. However, the people of Nemom and Chathannoor have given a strong reply. He described it as an anti-CPM election and said the public was fed up of them. He also added that Nemom had given him the highest support in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and pledged to serve the people of the constituency from now on. He thanked all the BJP workers.
