Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah abducted over social media post?

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah is currently all over the news after rumours surfaced of his purported abduction by political rivals. Naseem, playing for domestic team Rawalpindi Pindiz, recently made a social media post against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. On Monday evening, news surfaced from various social media handles that the bowler was abducted by assailants. The veracity of the news remains in question.

On the opening day of the PSL 2026, the Punjab chief minister was present at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Soon after, Naseem took to social media and questioned her presence. Within minutes, he deleted the post after facing backlash.

Another post appeared from the same account saying that it had been hacked. Even former players came harshly against Naseem, which forced the Pakistan Cricket Board to issue a show-cause notice to the 23-year-old pacer. Naseem has been given time for an explanation. Further action will be decided later.
