Youth beats father to death over dispute during marriage celebrations

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 31-year-old youth beat his father to death with a chair during marriage celebrations in Amboori. The dead is Thomas Abraham (62) of Kuruvikonam. The incident happened last night at 11 pm. The Vellarada police have taken his son Shanu into custody.

Uncle Varghese, who was stabbed during a fight at home, was admitted to the hospital. Shanu's wedding anniversary was yesterday. Alcohol was served as part of the celebrations. Meanwhile, Shanu and his wife had a verbal dispute. Shanu's mother and uncle tried to control the two.

In the meanwhile, Shanu stabbed Varghese with a knife. Thomas Abraham, who heard the commotion, tried to disperse Shanu and he then hit his father on the head with a chair. Thomas was immediately taken to a private hospital, but his life could not be saved. The body was shifted to Karakonam Hospital.
