Body of missing engineering student found in Pamba River

ALAPPUZHA: The body of an engineering college student who went missing while bathing in the Pamba River was recovered. The body of Karikkattoor Manimala native Joyal Antony Prakash (20), son of Jayaprakash, a second-year student of Chengannur IHRD Engineering College, was found on Saturday.

Joel, who had gone for a bath with three friends in the Pamba River at Mangalam Parakkadav around 6 pm yesterday, was swept away while swimming. Chengannur Fire Force Scuba and Police teams searched late into the night with the help of locals, but could not locate Joel. The depth and darkness of the river posed a challenge to the search. The body was found at 10:30 am today during the search.
