'Call P Jayarajan, save the party'; CPM cadres issue clarion call for Kannur strongman

KANNUR: Following the embarrassing election defeat, cyber comrades in Kannur intensified their campaign demanding seasoned politician and Kannur strongman P Jayarajan be made the CPM district Secretary. The demand is to replace Kannur district secretary KK Ragesh and bring back P. Jayarajan. The flex boards with the slogan 'Call P. Jayarajan, save the party' appeared even in Pinarayi Vijayan’s Dharmadam constituency. Some other faction demanded that Jayarajan be made the state secretary.

Allegations remain that the district leadership was unable to provide a proper explanation in the branch, local and area committees regarding the martyrs' fund controversy in Payyannur. Ignoring the opposition of the local and branch committees in Taliparamba, P.K. Shyamala was also nominated as a candidate. 'Red Army' groups are also demanding in cyberspace that 'correction should start from Kannur'. Jayarajan's Facebook post demanding that the party's shortcomings be corrected has also added momentum to the campaign. P. Jayarajan is a member of the CPM state committee.
