Heavy rain to continue in Kerala; alert issued in various districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the state will continue to receive heavy rain for the next few days. A yellow alert has been declared in 8 districts today. The yellow alert has been declared in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. The IMD has predicted isolated heavy rainfall in these districts. Heavy rainfall is defined as rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within a 24-hour period.

In light of the rainfall predictions, yellow and red alerts have been declared for several districts in the coming days.

Yellow alert Friday (11-10-2024)- Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki Saturday (12-10-2024)- Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam Sunday (13-10-2024)- Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Thrissur Monday (14-10-2024)- Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod

Orange alert Sunday (13-10-2024)- Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki Monday (14-10-2024)- Palakkad and Malappuram
