Honeytrap: Youth threatened with nude photos, four including 17-year-old girl arrested

KANNUR: Chakkarakkal police have arrested four persons from Kasaragod for attempting to extort money from a youth by luring him through online chatting in a honeytrap case. Those arrested include a 17-year-old girl, Ibrahim Shajmal Arshad (28) of Kushal Nagar, Kanhangad, and K.K. Abdul Kalam (52) and Maimoona (51) of Cherkala, Kasaragod.

According to the police, the 17-year-old girl befriended the complainant, a native of Chakkarakkal, through a mobile application and tried to trap him. The victim was brought to a house in Kanhangad, where he was threatened, forced to strip, and his photographs were taken.

The accused then demanded Rs 10 lakh, and later asked for gold of equal value if the money was not paid. The demand was finally reduced to Rs 6 lakh. The gang was brought to Chakkarakkal on the promise that the money would be paid, following which the Chakkarakkal police arrested them. The arrests were made under the leadership of Chakkarakkal CI M.P. Shaji.
