Muhammed Najeeb, mastermind behind organ trade case, arrested; High-ranking officials' names mentioned in diary
KOCHI: Muhammed Najeeb Kallattra, the brain behind the illegal organ trade case, was arrested by the Ernakulam Rural Police from Ghaziabad. The police are planning to bring the Kasaragod native to Kochi immediately for detailed questioning. Najeeb's wife, Rasheedah, a native of Kunnathunadu, was earlier arrested in the case. The other accused, Sunny Varghese, Sini Varghese, Sreeja, Sudheer and Vinod, are in remand. The investigation is being conducted under the leadership of District Police Chief KS Sudarshan.
The accused absconded to Delhi after Kerala police started investigating the case. The police suspected that he was planning to go abroad from the national capital. Najeeb entered Ghaziabad after a lookout notice was issued. It is reported that the accused ran organ donation fraud rackets in Tamil Nadu and other places.
Meanwhile, information is emerging that the names of high-ranking officials were found in Najeeb Kallattra's diary. The police have intensified their investigation after the names of several political officials were found in it. The diary recovered by the police from Najeeb's apartment in Pothanamparam, Peringala, contains accurate information about the sources of money received and transactions with political leaders. It is indicated that many high-ranking officials will be caught as the investigation expands. The police started a special investigation focusing on the money transaction records and bank information in the diary.
