THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KK Shailaja made her disapproval palpable at CPM state secretariat meeting held on Wednesday. Shailaja blamed the defeat on the CPM shifting her from the Mattanur constituency to Peravoor. Shailaja said that she was forced to contest from the constituency despite the slim chances of winning.

“In the current situation, it was evident that no one other than the UDF candidate would win in Peravoor. This election result proved that the party's decision was wrong.” Said Shailaja.

The leaders also put forward corrective suggestions in the 13-hour-long secretariat meeting. Opinions should be formed from the branch level onwards.

  • Criticisms should be approached without prejudice.
  • If we only look at the voting percentage figures, the situation will not improve.
  • The state leadership should assure party workers that they can express their opinions fearlessly.
  • The working style of local leaders should change.
  • Local party leadership has lost touch with people.
  • If the basic problems are not resolved, the party's condition will worsen.
