NEW DELHI: A two-day CPM Politburo meeting began in Delhi to review the party’s performance in five Assembly elections, including the defeat in Kerala. CPM General Secretary M. A. Baby said the review of the Kerala defeat is continuing.
He told the media that the issue of whether Pinarayi Vijayan would take up the post of Opposition Leader had not been discussed yet. The matter is likely to be discussed today. M. A. Baby said there is no doubt that the party suffered a major defeat in Kerala. Discussions on the election review in Kerala will continue today as well. If Pinarayi Vijayan does not take up the post, it could clear the way for K. N. Balagopal.
