Try to stop bike; Cops flee after leaving injured youths on road

ALAPPUZHA: It is alleged that a police team fled the place after leaving a seriously injured youth on the road. The incident happened on Chellanam Road Friday morning at 4 am. The accident occurred when the police tried to stop the youths on bike, who were returning after Christmas celebrations. An officer from Kannamaly Police Station and a biker were injured in the accident. However, it is alleged that the police team left the youths on the road and fled with the injured officer. One of the youths sustained serious injuries.

The injured bikers are Anil (27) of Kommady in Alappuzha and his friend Rajan (27). Anil, who suffered serious injuries on his nose and leg, was taken to Chettikad Government Hospital, 22 km away, by his friend tied to his bike. From there, he was taken to medical college hospital in an ambulance. The injured police officer was admitted to the Medical Trust Hospital.
