Two days to retirement: School principal suspended following alleged online slur against VD Satheesan
ATTINGAL: The General Education Department has suspended a government higher secondary school principal just forty-eight hours before his official retirement, following allegations of posting derogatory content against political leadership on social media. The suspended official has been identified as Jawad Zubair, the Principal of the Government Model Higher Secondary School in Attingal. Zubair also previously served as the Thiruvananthapuram District Coordinator for the Public Education Protection Mission.
The disciplinary action stems from a formal complaint filed by Akhil A.P., a Youth Congress leader based in Kilimanoor. According to the complaint, Zubair allegedly shared an insulting, digitally altered image and defamatory text on his social media account targeting Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan.
Following the grievance, the local police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the principal to initiate a formal investigation. Consequent to the legal registration of the case, the General Education Department promptly issued the suspension order, halting Zubair's service immediately ahead of his scheduled superannuation. Further administrative and police investigations into the matter are currently underway.
