Heavy rain predicted in Kerala until May 6
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy summer rain across Kerala starting today until Wednesday. Some areas are expected to receive very heavy rainfall, ranging from 64 mm to 115 mm within 24 hours. A yellow alert has been issued for various districts, and winds are expected to reach speeds of 40-50 km/h.
The Disaster Management Authority has issued a high-alert warning. Due to the possibility of severe lightning, the public is advised to be extremely cautious between 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Those living in hilly areas should stay alert for potential landslides and soil erosion. People should avoid bathing or fishing in rivers and lakes during heavy rain. Do not park vehicles under trees, as strong winds may cause branches to fall.
