Education consultancy regulation; lawmaking in final stages: Chief Minister at Loka Kerala Sabha

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the legislation to regulate education consultancies is in the final stages. "The action is as per the demand of the fourth Loka Kerala Sabha. NORKA police station will be set up to deal with cases related to foreign recruitment fraud." The Chief Minister was inaugurating the representative session of the Loka Kerala Sabha at the Sankaranarayanan Thampi Hall in the Assembly.

"Rather than the existing NRI police cell, a system for registering FIRs will be set up at the Norka police station. Out of the 28 suggestions selected by the Standing Committee from the last session, 10 have been implemented. These include the Pravasi Mission and the Norka Care Insurance Scheme. Implementation of 13 is in progress. Five have been brought to the attention of the Ministry of External Affairs.

The Chief Minister expressed concern over the changing approach of Western countries towards migrants at the international level. The Chief Minister also said that it is the duty of the mother land to embrace the expatriate community in this era of increasing intolerance.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Student Migration Portal, Airport Help Desk and Sherpa Portal. The coffee table book prepared by the Information Public Relations Department was also released at the event.
