South Africa dominate day 1 of second Test vs Bangladesh; century for De Zorsi, Stubbs

CHATTOGRAM: South Africa is off to a good start in the second cricket Test of their Bangladesh tour. South Africa ended the first day of the second Test against Bangladesh at 307/2. Openers Tony de Zorzi (141*) and Tristan Stubbs (106) stole the show, helping the visitors post an impressive total. De Zorzi remained unbeaten, while Stubbs scored a century before getting dismissed. David Bedingham, who is unbeaten on 18 runs, is at the crease alongside Zorzi.

South Africa, who batted first after winning the toss, first lost the wicket of skipper Aiden Markram. Markram was dismissed after adding 69 runs for the opening wicket with Tony de Zorzi. He was caught by Mominul Haque off Taijul Islam's bowling. After this, de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs together added 201 runs for the second wicket. Stubbs scored 106 off 198 balls. It included three sixes and six fours.

De Zorzi hit three sixes and 10 fours while remaining unbeaten off 211 balls. Tristan Stubbs was clean-bowled by Taijul Islam. Except for Taijul, no other Bangladeshi bowler could claim a wicket or trouble the South African batsmen. South Africa leads the two-match series 1-0, having won the first Test in Dhaka.
