Party begins procedures to select the new CM; a decision will be taken soon,’ says K C Venugopal
ALAPPUZHA: The party has started the procedures to select the new chief minister, and a decision will be made very soon, said AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal. He added that it would be good if the CPM learns a lesson at least now. For the past ten years, they have been doing things that a political party should not do, including arrogant actions that a government should never take. He told media that the public has given its response to this through the election results.
‘This election has delivered a strong setback to forces that tried to incite communalism. People have realized that caste and religion are not what matter, but rather the candidate’s honesty and the party’s ideology. There were very poor comments against Sudheer Shah in Vamanapuram, still people elected him. In Kochi, Muhammad Shiyas has been elected. This is the message of goodness from Kerala,’ said Venugopal.
He had earlier stated in a press meet that the Congress will have no difficulty in deciding the chief minister. The decision will be taken after holding discussions. He also said that he is a party worker who will accept any decision taken by the leadership and stand by the party’s stand. He added that fielding leaders who left the CPM in protest against corruption and nepotism as UDF candidates also contributed to this major victory.
