'Wishing success to all'; CM Pinarayi Vijayan ends last cabinet meeting

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan wished all ministers success before ending his last cabinet meeting of the second tenure on Saturday. The cabinet meeting, which was held online, lasted just ten minutes. The Chief Minister wished his colleagues success at the end of the meeting. The meeting also decided to ratify the order issued to create 14 additional posts for the smooth functioning of the 12th Pay Commission.

Even though exit polls predict a victory for the UDF, Pinarayi Vijayan is confident of a historic third consecutive win for the LDF in the state. The next cabinet meeting is on May 5, the day after the election results are announced. Even if there is a succession or change of government, it will be in this cabinet meeting that the recommendation to dismiss the current government and appoint a new government will be made.

The government decided to provide relief funds to the king of Valparai accident victims, belonging to Malappuram Pang school. The families of the five victims who did not have insurance coverage will be given Rs 10 lakh each. The others had insurance coverage. The relatives of the school bus driver, Noushad Ali, cooks Sajida, Ruqiya, Shakeela and student Muhammad Hisham will be given Rs 10 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

The government will bear the medical expenses of the teacher's son, Muhammad Shahadin Muhammed Masneen and the driver of the vehicle, Muhammad Fahis. The cabinet meeting also decided to allocate the amount from the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund. If any of the injured had to undergo treatment above the insurance limit, the government would cover the particular expense.
