THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kadakampally Surendran MLA stepped forward responding to the allegations levelled in connection with the Sabarimala gold theft. He also spoke about the statement given to the special investigation team. Had a friendly relationship with Unnikrishnan Potty, the main accused in the case, said Kadakampally while clarifying the crucial events to the media this morning.

'Had told the special investigation team about his visit to Potty's house once. Visited the house of Potty where he was staying earlier and not the one where he is presently staying. I think it was in 2017. When I became a minister in 2016, I met Potty while going to Sabarimala. Potty called me one day when I was going to Sabarimala. He asked me if I could attend a function of a child at his house in Karette. I gave in to that compulsion and went with police escort.

Many have met Potty like this, otherwise, I would not have gone. He has not given me any gifts. Potty has not sponsored anything for my constituency. An investigation by the special investigation team is going on. The opposition is looking at this issue with political interests. They need a victim. Everyone knows that a minister has no role in the gold theft. People are aware of the opposition's propaganda,' said Kadakampally Surendran.
