KOLLAM: Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar mocked the chief ministerial discussions in the UDF. Ganesh Kumar mocked that the chief minister in the UDF will have to sit on a bench, not a chair, and that the ministerial and private secretary discussions have already begun. He clarified that he will win with a larger majority in Pathanapuram than last time.

Taking a dig at the multiple contenders for the chief minister’s post, Ganesh Kumar said that instead of a chair, a bench would be required since ‘five to six people’ are eyeing the post, with at least three actively in the fray. He added sarcastically that discussions have already moved beyond the chief minister’s post to cabinet portfolios and even private secretary posts, turning it into good content for television. He also expressed confidence about his own prospects, stating that he expects to win from Pathanapuram with a bigger margin than last time and that the people there will continue to support him. He further predicted that the LDF would retain power in the state, even if by a narrow margin.

Meantime, CPM state secretary M V Govindan had also reiterated confidence that the LDF would return to power, citing exit poll predictions that estimate the front winning 60–69 seats just short of a simple majority, but within reach.
