Subjected tech employees to sexual harassment; six including team leader arrested
MUMBAI: Six people, including a team leader, have been arrested following complaints by women tech employees who alleged sexual harassment over the past four years. The incident took place at a multinational company in Nashik. Police have registered nine cases against the accused.
According to the police, one of the accused repeatedly sexually assaulted a complainant after promising to marry her. Another accused allegedly behaved inappropriately with a different complainant by touching her inappropriately and making insulting remarks about her personal and married life. The police also said that despite repeated complaints to the company’s head office, no action was taken against the accused. There is also a complaint that the accused made religiously offensive remarks against a male employee.
All the accused were arrested, produced before a court, and remanded. They have been sent to police custody until April 10. Police said the investigation is ongoing and urged more victims, if any, to come forward.
