Diljit Dosanjh stops concert midway following pro-Khalistan controversy
Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh came under fire after pro-Khalistan flags were raised during his concert in Calgary, Canada. The incident took place during a concert of his latest album 'Aura'. Diljit had to temporarily halt the concert after the flags were noticed among the audience.
The singer asked the agitators to leave the venue immediately and also instructed the organisers to remove them from the premises. He also clarified that his concert would only represent Punjab. Diljit added that it is due to the neglect shown by the national media towards Punjab that he has taken up the duty to talk more about his state at international platforms.
Diljit also responded to the criticism levelled against him for his earlier appearances on shows like 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' where he faced threats from a Khalistani gang for touching Amitabh Bachchan's feet. Diljit clarified that these were not for personal fame but to draw world attention to the issues in Punjab. During a concert in Vancouver, he also mentioned the Komagata Maru incident of 1914.
Meanwhile, Diljit's upcoming film is 'Main Wapas Aavunga' directed by Imtiaz Ali. The film, which stars Sharwari and Vedang Raina in lead roles, will hit the theatres on June 12.
