NEW DELHI: The Indian ship carrying 43,313 metric tons of LPG has safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz. The ship M T Sarv Shakti crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday. Out of the 20 crew members on board, 18 are Indians. It is expected to reach Visakhapatnam port on May 13. The Sarv Shakti departed from a port in the UAE. Despite the US-Iran peace talks and the US naval blockade, the Sarv Shakti became the first Indian ship to cross the Strait of Hormuz.

The safe passage of the LPG tanker is a great relief for India, one of the largest importers of cooking gas in the world. India had faced a major crisis when the Strait of Hormuz was closed after the outbreak of the Iran-US war. India had managed to transport eight LPG tankers during the conflict.
