BARCELONA: Poland football sensation Robert Lewandowski will bid adieu to Spanish giants Barcelona after four seasons. The 37-year-old announced his decision on Saturday through his social media account. Lewandowski also announced that he will be wearing the Barca shirt for the last time in the match against Real Betis on Sunday. The player has not revealed the club he will be joining next.

Lewandowski joined Barca from Bayern Munich in 2022 for €45 million ($53m) as a replacement for Lionel Messi. In the four years, the Poland captain netted 119 times in 191 Barça appearances. However, Lewandowski saw his chances in the club slowly waning with Ferran Torres getting more playing time. Lewandowski remained a substitute for most of the games this season, while it was Torres who made it to the field in the No 9 role.

Meanwhile, it is rumoured that Lewandowski may consider his options about entering the Premier League to end his career on a high note. There are unconfirmed reports of Manchester United, the Red Devils, making moves to land the Polish striker at the club. With the promise of Champions League football and the stature as one of the most successful clubs ever, fans believe that the Polish striker would not have any difficulty landing at Old Trafford.
