NEW DELHI: Railways issued strict instructions to passengers to prevent sabotage attempts during train travel. As part of strengthening security, passengers are advised to be cautious about stations and their surroundings. Passengers have been instructed to report anything suspicious. The Railways also decided to further strengthen the AI drones and CCTV network.

The strong decision to prevent sabotage attempts was made at a high-level security review meeting chaired by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at Rail Bhavan. The meeting assessed the role of passengers in preventing sabotage attempts as very important and advised them to immediately contact the railway helpline number 139 if they notice any suspicious activities or individuals.

Preliminary investigations into some of the recent incidents, including fire accidents on the railways, revealed the involvement of anti-social elements. The Railways had confirmed the other day that these incidents were part of sabotage attempts. Indian Railways takes these situations very seriously. The Railway Security Force is actively investigating these cases. Major accidents have been averted in many places due to timely intervention by the Railways.

A mechanism will be put in place to facilitate faster sharing of security information and improve coordination between the Railway Protection Force and the Railway Police. The Railways also decided to ensure the participation of passengers in preventing anti-social activities at stations and trains.
