Petrol and diesel prices hiked again, third increase in 10 days
KOCHI: Public sector oil companies have hiked fuel prices again, making daily life more difficult for people. Petrol prices were hiked by 87 paise per litre, while diesel prices went up by 91 paise per litre. This is the third fuel price hike within ten days. With the latest hike, fuel prices have gone up by nearly Rs 5 in total during this period. The price of CNG has also been increased by Re 1.
The companies said the hike was due to the sharp rise in crude oil prices and the steep fall in the value of the Indian rupee. This is the latest increase after fuel prices remained unchanged since April 2022. Earlier this month, oil companies had increased petrol and diesel prices by Rs 3 each on May 15 and by another 90 paise on May 19.
In Thiruvananthapuram, the new price of petrol is Rs 112.64 per litre, while diesel now costs Rs 101.55 per litre. The revised prices came into effect yesterday.േ
