Siddaramaiah proposes DK Shivakumar as legislature party leader, to take oath as Karnataka CM on June 3
BENGALURU: D.K. Shivakumar was elected as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Karnataka. The meeting held at the conference hall in Vidhan Soudha was attended by CLP Secretary Allamprabhu Patil, AICC General Secretaries KC Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala. Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proposed the name of D.K. Shivakumar in the meeting. Minister G. Parameshwaraiah supported it. The decisions of the meeting will be communicated to the Congress high command soon. D.K. Shivakumar will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on June 3.
New ministers may also take the oath along with D.K. Shivakumar.
Meanwhile, K.C. Venugopal said that all the disputes related to the change of Chief Minister in Karnataka have been resolved amicably. He clarified that political opponents tried to create big explosions within the party, which he said failed miserably. The party loyalty shown by Siddaramaiah paved the way for the smooth transfer of power, and his resignation is one of the proudest moments in the history of the Congress, Venugopal said. He added that there were no problems in the cabinet reshuffle.
